Gathering of The Clans 2016 September 6, 2016 – Posted in: Blog

I had an epic time on the beautiful Island of Tiree for the annual Scottish Surfing Federations Gathering of the Clans – hosted this year by the amazing crew at Blackhouse Watersports.

The waves were small and luckily I had taken my go to summer stick – 5’5 Hart Attack, which I’ve been using in pretty much all the East coast summer swells coming through.

Had a bit of a ropey start after having been quite ill in the run up to the comp and then facing the drive through the night to get the ferry from Oban. I placed second in my first heat but after a good 10 hour sleep in absolute tranquility on the island, I felt good on the Saturday morning and won my semi-final and then the final!

It feels so great to be competing again and I’m feeling the fittest I think I have ever been. All the hard work, training and determination is paying off right now and I’m loving every moment of this journey I’m on.
